Halloween is still three weeks away on Saturday, October 10, but at Maltworks it will already be in full swing. That’s the date of the 2nd Annual Maltworks Monster Mash at Belle City Square, and the first one, last year, was also held on an early October Saturday, so kids with their costumes ready ahead of time get two chances to wear them.
If you haven’t been inside, Maltworks is the old Horlick Malted Milk factory on Northwestern Avenue, the turreted brick complex where malted milk was invented back in the 1880s. Studios, shops and small businesses fill it now, and last year’s Mash brought shopping and spooky drinks to the place. This year Tantava Yoga, together with Jenni Marie Guarascio, is turning its studio in Suite G107 into a Halloween day of its own:
- 11 a.m. costume yoga for kids, $10 per child.
- Noon to 7 p.m. Halloween yoga dance party, free.
- 7 p.m. Adult Dark Yoga, $35 per person.
Spots in both classes are limited, and they’re booked ahead on Tantava’s scheduling page. The studio’s address is 2224 Northwestern Ave, Suite G107, Racine.

Costume Yoga for Kids at 11 a.m.
The morning class is a playful Halloween yoga session for little ones, and it finishes with a beaded spider craft they can carry home. Costumes are encouraged, and at $10 a child it’s an easy first stop before the rest of the Monster Mash.
A Free Dance Party Between the Two Classes
From noon until the evening class, the studio keeps going with Halloween music and a costume dance party. There’s no charge for this part, all levels are welcome, and friends can come along and stay for as long or as short a time as suits them.
Adult Dark Yoga at 7 p.m.
Once the kids have gone home, the lights go down. The evening class is lit by candles and moves slowly, built around shadow, stillness and transformation. Guests are asked to bring a favorite mask, the class costs $35 per person, and everyone who takes part leaves with a complimentary wellness gift.
